This article outlines the new features for reports and dashboards that are part of the Spring ’24 Salesforce release.

In this release, Salesforce has added an Analytics Home tab to manage your organization’s reports and dashboards. Managing your reports and dashboards from a central place enables your staff to easily navigate between both. If your organization leverages Data Cloud, the analytics studio provides more robust features to view your data from all sources in Salesforce.

The New Analytics Tab Provides a Better Way to Look at Reports and Dashboards.

The Spring ‘24 release offers a brand new Analytics tab and provides users with a unified view of their data, reports, and dashboards.  This update offers improvements to report sharing and management through the addition of bulk selection capabilities and the long-awaited addition of mobile accessibility.

This functionality applies to the Lightning Experience in Group, Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer editions. Access to CRM Analytics assets is available for an extra cost.

How to Access and Navigate the New Salesforce Analytics

The new Analytics tab offers one unified view of all reports and dashboards. You can navigate to the Analytics tab from any app.

How to Control Salesforce Report and Dashboard Sharing from the Analytics Tab

To support more efficient and secure collaboration, the Spring ‘24 update allows users to control sharing settings in the same granular ways without needing to navigate through separate tabs. It can be accessed from the row-level action menu button for any folder in the Analytics tab.

How to Use New Salesforce Bulk Selection Feature to Streamline Dashboard Management

We can now browse all the dashboards in the system and select multiple records at once to change the owner.

This feature also enables you to send email notifications to the new owner.

This feature also enables you to send email notifications to the new owner. You can select and update up to 50 records at a time. Currently, this bulk change functionality is only available for Dashboards in Lightning Experience from the Analytics home tab.

This feature is handy in situations like staff changes when your organization needs to update dashboard owners. Say goodbye to the days when you had to manually update the owner of each dashboard.

View Salesforce Dashboard Analytics on Mobile

Before this release, dashboard views were only available on Desktop. Now, you can select a dashboard and save views of the dashboard based on the filter “view by” in Analytics Mobile on your iOS and Android devices. This change applies to CRM Analytics for iOS. CRM Analytics is available in Developer Edition and for an extra cost in Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions.

In addition to saving these views, you can also share them with other users or set a specific filtered view as your default view on your mobile app.

On top of improved management functionality, the Salesforce Spring 24 release brings quite a few improvements to the dashboard experience as well as to report creation and management.

Improve Salesforce Dashboards with New Visualization Tools

We can now add rich text and image widgets to dashboards to enhance the look and feel and better communicate the information.

Widgets, previously called Lightning dashboard components, are now available in all editions and can include a wide variety of image types, GIFs, and rich text

Edit Report Filters Seamlessly

Previously when report filters needed updates, the filtered field had to be removed completely. Now we can simply select a new field in an existing filtered field instead of deleting and adding a new one.

Rearrange Report Columns in Bulk

Multiple field columns can be rearranged on the report by dragging and dropping. This functionality also applies to columns on the left side of the report builder.

Report Type Filters

When building new reports, we can now filter report types by the required salesforce object or specific fields within an object to get a list of report types that contain those objects or fields.
