People are really nice here at fusionSpan. They're always eager to help and everyone is very supportive. I love how all the team members here are really open and inclusive. I like what I do and I have plenty of time for my family and myself.

Once a month, fusionSpan will share the talent and hard work of the people that we call our team. From Delivery, Consulting, Operations, and more – we pause to get a little bit personal, showcasing the faces behind the technology solutions that we work on each day. This month we meet fusionSpan Senior Software Engineer Julio Lozano!

What was your first job? Tell us about it!

I was around 18 years old. My brother and I recently learned web development. Content Management Systems weren’t a thing yet, so my job was to make small changes to the website (like adding a comma or fixing a typo) for the company my father was working at the time.

Who has influenced you most in your professional path/career?

My father. He has always been able to adapt to new situations. He started on Information Technology then moved to procurement. He has always been very supportive of anything that I wanted to do. I always come back to him for advice.

What’s your favorite part about working in the technology industry? What drew you to it?

Helping other people, I love that! I fell in love with computers when I was four years old. My father took a computer home from work, and I learned to write my name with a keyboard. Before even learning with a pencil first!

What are the main responsibilities of your current role? What do you enjoy most about your position?

I have been in charge of configuring the system according to the clients and best practices. I’m also in charge of developing custom solutions depending on the client’s needs. I really enjoy supporting client missions and ensuring their success. I also love that I’m learning something new every day because every client is different.

Looking back, what career advice would you tell your 18-year-old self?

Don’t stop learning and be open to opportunities.

Do you have a favorite quote?

No, but If I have to pick one, this could be it:

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift… that’s why they call it present.”

― Master Oogway”

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?

Spending time with my wife and kids, playing basketball, going out to eat at a new place, going to the beach.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I used to practice Rowing, Kendo, and Ninjitsu.

If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing, what would it be, and why?

Chinese food restaurant hot sauce. I can put it in almost anything.

What words would you use to describe fusionSpan? What have you enjoyed most about being here?
