Everyone here has some kind of unique knowledge set and they are always eager to help if you are having an issue. I enjoy working with motivated teammates with a passion for problem solving!

Once a month, fusionSpan will share the talent and hard work of the people that we call our team. From Delivery, Consulting, Operations, and more – we pause to get a little bit personal, showcasing the faces behind the technology solutions that we work on each day. This month we meet fusionSpan Project Manager (Delivery), Chelsea Ashe!

What was your first job? Tell us about it!Chelsea Ashe

My first office job was at a paper company (think Dunder Mifflin from The Office, but smaller). I helped with the website, wrote blog posts, printed and folded brochures, and generally helped around the office. This is also where I met my husband John!

When John and I were dating, we moved to an apartment complex that was 5 minutes away from the office, it was almost as good of a commute as working from home, but I still had to leave the house on cold winter mornings!

Who has influenced you most in your professional path & career?

This is a hard one to answer, I try to take lessons learned from everyone I work with. In one of my previous jobs, I was bad about having my toggle images off by one or two pixels every time.

One of my coworkers would regularly flag it as an issue and that taught me to make sure I thoroughly self QA my work before uploading it. One of my professors in college taught us to think critically about a problem to work smarter, not harder. I try to learn a little bit from everyone because I believe that everyone has something that they can teach me.

What’s your favorite part about working in the technology industry? What drew you to it?

I love learning about new things and seeing how far humans can push technology. I run public betas on my iPhone every year and am always looking out for new technology. I think technology can help humanity as a whole from renewable energy to realistic prosthetic limbs to health trackers. There’s so much good tech can do in the world, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

What are the main responsibilities of your current role? What do you enjoy most about your position?

The main responsibility of my role is to help keep the project on track and coordinate communication between the client and fusionSpan. I enjoy helping people stay organized with their tasks. I also get to learn a lot from the team as they assist the client, which is great because I love to learn!

Looking back, what career advice would you tell your 18-year-old self?

This is a hard question because I feel like everything that has happened throughout my career has taught me something that benefited me in the future. I would probably tell myself to keep my eyes and ears open. But also probably buy BitCoin, haha. I was so close to buying it when I was younger but didn’t really think it would go anywhere so I opted not to.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not working?

I love hanging out with my husband, dogs, and cat. We will go out into our front yard together and watch the dogs play and the cat go down to the barn to hunt field mice.

I also enjoy knitting and gaming. I’m currently working on a large blanket made of scrap yarn to make room for new yarn.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

One weird thing is I can roll all of my letters (not just “R”s) which also allows me to roll my words. It is not a very useful talent, but it is very fun!

What words would you use to describe fusionSpan? What have you enjoyed most about being here?

I would say that fusionSpan is filled with diverse knowledge with incredibly helpful coworkers. Everyone here has some kind of unique knowledge set and they are always eager to help if you are having an issue. I enjoy working with motivated teammates with a passion for problem solving!
